I use this book in my class and the students love it! I would highly recommend it to other elementary level Chinese teachers.

這是一套頗為完整的教材, 它最大的優點是課文的連貫性以及教學活動設計的提供. 教學單元的組成是以二到三課為一個單位, 提供老師足夠的空間來設計在整合性的教學活動. 教材附有電子課本, 字卡, 及影, 音光碟, 對教學及學生自行預習, 復習都有很大的助益. 由於一年級的課文幾乎都是用兒歌的方式編寫, 少了一般敘述性的句子, 對於母語不是中文的小朋友來說, 要學到口語句型, 可能要花多一點時間, 也增加老師在設計補充教材上的負擔. 小朋友可能會以為, 課文上兒歌式的句子就是一般中文說話的句子. 本教材文體和字詞的選擇也是以母語為中文的學生設計的, 欠缺母語非中文的學生極需要的說話,會話式的文體. 對初級的小朋友來說, 高頻率字詞的選擇也偏難.

This textbook is a wonderful

This textbook is a wonderful resource for lower school Mandarin Chinese classrooms. The activities are engaging, and the graphics are really fun. Kids can really relate to the lessons. I would use this for a heritage or immersion program. It's geared mostly towards native speakers, so I wouldn't reccomend it for a FLES or FLEX program. Even teachers in immersion programs with a lack of native speakers might have to modify lessons considerably because of the difficulty level.
