I am a scientist with experience in teaching science classes and working in techincal fields. Among my hobbies are Chinese brush-painting, writing and music.
I work in the field of education because:
I have lived in several countries in my youth, and have climbed the steep slope of learning foreign languages that are a world apart from my mother tongue, Mandarin Chinese. Seeing so many English-speaking students (including American-born Chinese children) struggle with learning Chinese, I decided to become a self-appointed Chinese language instructor. I believe, besides enriching their vocabulary, the students also need to understand the make-up of the sentence structures. If the students can make sense of what they are learning, then it will be easier for them to acquire the ability to apply what they have learned to real-life situations. So far, I've published a printed book, titled "Learn Chinese through Songs and Rhymes", a free eBook story, "A Vat of Water", and a couple bilingual videos on YouTube. I am also posting Chinese lessons on my blog on a weekly basis.
