Does anyone know of or have personal experience using Second Life for their language learning programs? What are the advantages and disadvantages? How user friendly is it?

It is potentially very powerful but not user friendly, at least not for creating stuff. The other downside is there is a minimum age to have an account, so if you are working with high school (or below) you can only use SL for Teens (I cannot recall what it is called)

There is some stuff out there - a cool spanish house where everything is labeled and you have to answer questions correctly to get from place to place. There is also a Chinese immersion place, though it is done by a for-profit company, so you have to pay.

The possibilities are endless.

Hi Megan! I'm from Brazil and I would like to find a mandarin school in Second Life, but I'm begginer in Second Life.At the moment my biggest difficulty is to find a good free mandarin school there. I found "chinoesfera" which is a Spain site, but there are few classes available. I would like to find a English School too, because I need to improve my English. Urgently!!!!
Best wishes!
