The most common way for teachers to become certified in Texas is through Alternative Certification. And ACT Houston is one of the most well known Alternative Certification Programs.

ACT Houston offers an accelerated route to teacher certification that is coordinated by experienced classroom teachers and administrators. Classes in all locations are taught by master teachers. Our small class sizes provide the best instructional environment for new teachers.

Our certification program was developed for teachers by teachers to offer you the highest quality preparation for quickly entering the classroom as a full-salaried teacher.

To be eligible for an alternative certification as a bilingual Mandarin Chinese educator for early upper elementary students through the high school levels, the teaching candidate will need to demonstrate the successful completion of coursework in general education topics such as English literature, science, history, social studies, mathematics and electives such as educational psychology, speech communication and linguistics.
